Some updates!

So, I've got some exciting news! My husband and I are going to moving soon. We've been looking for a new place for awhile and we've finally been approved for a basement apartment. We'll find out an exact move in date Monday night after we've signed everything.

What does this mean for comic updates? Hopefully nothing. I'm working this weekend to rebuild my queue. The new apartment is only a mile away so we're hoping to have our computer and internet back up and running within day or so.

Why am I telling you about this? One, because I'm really excited. Two, if I end up not having enough pages in queue, updates will stop for a week or two. If this does happen, I'll do what I can to post an update on here or on Facebook with an expected date for when updates will resume.

Also, we'll be saving quite a bit of money. We've been looking into some possible merchandise. So keep an eye out for that!

More delays.

I know people are probably sick of the delays. And I apologize for that.

I've taken on a few commissions to help out financially recently. I had intended to have commissions done by the first week of September so I could focus on comic pages.

Everything has been flipped upside down and I've gotten behind in everything. I'm working to get caught up. On September 6th, my mom unexpectedly passed away at the age of 55.

I'm coping. It's hard. But I'm trying to adjust to my new "normal."

I promise, new pages will come in October.

I'm sorry.

Buy Me Coffee!

Hey everyone! I know things have been a bit slow recently, but I have a few exciting updates!

First of all, I apologize for the lack of updates over the last few months. Since the summertime, I've been extremely tired. There were days were I would sleep for 18 hours, wake up long enough to eat dinner, then go back to bed for 10 hours before going to work. It was really bad.

After visiting a sleep specialist, we found out I have sleep apnea and hypersomnia. Not only am I not breathing in my sleep, I'm experience excessive daytime sleepiness. It's so bad that I could quite literally fall asleep while driving. owo;

Luckily, I've adjusted some things in my life which will make it much easier for me to focus on he comic some more. Woohoo!

Next, I'm happy too announce a change on this site. If you look at the top of the page, you will see there's no longer a fanart button. It's now just art. I will still continue to post any fanart which you guys do (btw if you ever do fanart, please let me know in a comment or via Facebook) but I will now be posting original artwork! :D This is located at the bottom of the page.

And finally, my last announcement. If you look at the bottom of the comic pages, you will see a button now that says, "Buy me a coffee." This is a donation button. One Step Closer will continue to be a free comic, but these donations go to help keep the domain running and the smackjeeves subscription current. That means you can continue typing in Easier access!

Donations are not required but are definitely appreciated. In the future, I will find a way to feature different supporters. I've been working with my husband a bit to come up with ideas for a feature page and also find things we can physically give our supporters. Keep your eyes open for future updates on this.

Thank you all for your time and your support! You are all amazing. <3

Updates for 2017

Hey everyone! I hope you have all had a Merry Christmas. The new year is just around the corner, and with that we have some new news.

First of all, you may have noticed that I am behind with updates (oops). There's a reason for this... And a solution!

Simply put: I've burned myself out. I haven't been able to keep up with doing two pages a week. I thought, at first, I could. But recently, I have had no energy to do anything. Over the summer, I was unemployed for awhile and spent a lot of time sleeping. When I was awake, I would work on comic pages. This is why I managed to keep up a bit.

I am employed again, and by the time I get home, I'm too tired to do anything. After seeing a doctor, we found out I have sleep apnea and I'm not getting the rest I need. I am in the process of getting this taken care of, but it's not a quick and easy process.

So I'm going back to doing one page per week. :( We will do two pages a week every so often for special events, but it won't be permanent again for awhile.

This was going to be happening soon regardless of me having sleep apnea or not. My husband and I are finally in a position where we can look into moving out! Things are still up in the air, but we're looking at some places. We will do out best to post any major updates that may cause delays.

Thank you all for your patience! I really appreciate it. <3

Guest Comic?

Hey guys! I've been spending a lot of time thinking about this, and I think it would be fun to offer some kind of guest comic event. Here's what I'm thinking...

Rather than your typical guest comic event where people comic up with their own ideas and put characters into situations they create, I think it would be interesting to continue with our current story, but see pages in different styles.

If interested in participating, I would send a basic sketch of what will be happening in the page. I will label the characters and post text just to give you a general idea what I want. After that, you can go nuts. Add additional characters in the background, change the wording a bit, etc.

But I want to know if this is something people are interested in joining in with. If no one is interested, the event will not happen. If a good number are interested, we'll host the event. If only a few are interested, then maybe I'll open up the offer to people to do whenever they feel like it.

I would give you at least a week to do your page. If your page is not ready 24 hours before it needs to be uploaded, I'll whip up a replacement.

Feel free to share your thoughts! I've even created a poll people can use to vote.
If we hosted a guest comic event, would you be interested?

Thanks for your time, you guys!

FanArt page and vacation!

Good evening, everyone! I hope you are all having a great weekend. We may be half way done, but we're another day closer to the next page!

I wanted to give a quick update on what to expect coming up here. First of all, the shop is down. Over the next few days, the page will be disappearing. Do no be alarmed.

Our FanArt page is finally going to be updated! We've been working on getting it coded and adding a few pictures. If you decide to do fanart, we are happy to post it! Just comment on any page with a link to the piece or post it to our Facebook page.

As mentioned in the title of this news post, I'm preparing to go on vacation from August 11th - the 15th. This will not cause any delays in pages. We will still post 2 pages a week. So why am I mentioning this? I'm going to be going to RMFC, and if anyone else is there I would love to be able to say hi! :D Feel free to comment if you're going to RMFC. If you're going and you can find me, I'd be happy to do a free doodle for you~

This is all I have to cover today. Thanks for reading!

What do we want? More pages! When do we want them?

Unfortunately, we can't offer more pages now... But come April, we will be doing a test! This test involves TWO pages per week!

Recently, I have found a system that works for me getting a minimum of two pages done per week. Our test will involve posting two pages per week and seeing if we can keep up with that demand while still working full time. If this is successful, we will make this a permanent thing. If this proves to be overwhelming, we will revert back to 1 page a week.

This test will be conducted in April. We will update on Mondays and Thursdays during that month. In May, we will go back to 1 page a week while we evaluate everything. Mid May, we should have our results. Whatever the decision may be, we will post an announcement.

Why wait until April?
We have pages scheduled through March. Rather than try to spend time fixing the upload dates on these pages, we are going to focus our time creating new pages. We will begin uploading two pages a week starting April 4th!

What about on deviantART?
Pages on deviantART will still be delayed, but we will also upload two pages a week on there! The deviantART schedule will be Tuesday and Friday.

If you have any questions on this test, please feel free to ask!

Thank you so much for your support everyone! Stay tuned this Thursday for a new page. :)
